REPRESENTATIVES OF THE INSTITUTE PARTICIPATED IN A ROUND TABLE ON THE NEW OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY STRATEGY
Representatives of the Public Scientific Institution Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska, Prof. Dr. Predrag Ilić, Director, and Goran Šobot, Head of the Education Department, participated in the Round Table entitled “The New Occupational Safety Strategy in the Republic of Srpska – Just Another Document or Real Change?”, held on 28 April 2026 in Banja Luka.

The Round Table was organised by the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Srpska to mark 28 April – World Day for Safety and Health at Work, as part of activities aimed at improving the occupational safety and health system in the Republic of Srpska.
The aim of the event was to open a professional discussion and dialogue among social partners, institutions and the expert community on the development of the new Occupational Safety Strategy in the Republic of Srpska. It was particularly emphasised that the new strategy should not be merely a formal document, but a practical and effective instrument for improving workers’ safety and health.
Participants discussed the practical implementation of legal provisions, the role of social partners in creating and implementing the strategy, the main problems encountered in practice, and the concrete measures that the future strategic document should include.
The participation of the Institute’s representatives in this event confirms the Institute’s commitment to actively contributing to the development and improvement of the occupational safety and health system through professional work, education, training, risk assessment, and support to institutions and business entities in the implementation of preventive measures.
The Round Table brought together representatives of the Ministry of Labour, War Veterans and Disabled Persons’ Protection, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare of the Republic of Srpska, the Union of Employers’ Associations of the Republic of Srpska, the Republic Inspectorate of the Republic of Srpska, the Institute of Occupational and Sports Medicine of the Republic of Srpska, the Association of Engineers of the Republic of Srpska, branch trade unions, and other relevant experts in the field of occupational safety and health.
The organisation of this event highlighted the need for joint action by all relevant stakeholders, so that the new Occupational Safety Strategy in the Republic of Srpska becomes a real mechanism for protecting workers’ lives and health, rather than merely a document without practical implementation.
