CONFERENCE “OPEN SCIENCE AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT: INTEGRATION AND PRACTICE” HELD IN BANJA LUKA
On March 31, 2025, the conference titled “Open Science and Community Engagement: Integration and Practice” was held at the Academy of Sciences and Arts of the Republic of Srpska in Banja Luka. The event was organized by the Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska in cooperation with Union Nikola Tesla University, Belgrade.

The conference was held within the framework of the SuDe2Re project – Sustainable Development through Responsible Research: Strengthening ORRI in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, supported by the European Union as part of the REINFORCING initiative.
The main goal of the conference was to promote the principles of Open and Responsible Research and Innovation (ORRI) through dialogue among the scientific community, institutions, decision-makers, and the wider public. Participants had the opportunity to exchange experiences and ideas during lectures, workshops, and panel discussions focused on research ethics, inclusiveness, and methods of community engagement.
Distinguished representatives of the academic and research community participated in the event, including Academician Novo Pržulj, Prof. Dr. Predrag Ilić, Prof. Dr. Smiljana Paraš, Prof. Dr. Suzana Gotovac Atlagić, and Sonja Marković, MSc.
The Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska would like to express its gratitude to all participants, collaborators, and partners for their contributions to the successful implementation of the conference. We believe that this event raised important issues and launched new directions for the development of socially responsible science in our region.
