NEW PROJECT "WATER-GUIDE" APPROVED FOR THE INSTITUTE UNDER THE EUROPEAN DALIA INITIATIVE
The Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska has received support for a new international project titled WATER-GUIDE (Water Assessment for Transformation and Ecological Revitalisation – Guidelines for Unified Integrated Design and Ecological Recovery) within the framework of the DALIA Danube Lighthouse initiative, funded by the European Union.

The WATER-GUIDE project represents a significant step toward the ecological revitalisation of rivers in the region, with a particular focus on the Sava River Basin. The main goal is to develop and implement comprehensive guidelines for the restoration of water bodies, adapted to local and regional needs, through strong stakeholder involvement.
Inspired by the successful non-physical replication model from the Szigetköz region in Hungary, the project includes the following activities:
- Baseline environmental assessment
- Organisation of four stakeholder workshops
- Development of practical revitalisation guidelines and creation of an online platform
- Public awareness campaigns and citizen consultations
The project will last 24 months, aiming to reach at least 5,000 citizens, raise awareness about the importance of water protection, and promote sustainable development through eco-tourism and enhanced water management capacities.
