At the international NanoPol 2025 conference, held on June 11–12, 2025, at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, University of Banja Luka, the CircleAware project was presented through a poster presentation titled: “Importance of the New Polymer Recycling Technologies in Light of the Circular Economy: Case Study of CircleAware Project.”

The authors of the presentation were Dr. Predrag Ilić and Sonja Marković from the Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska, and Jelena Radunović from Komunalno Kotor Ltd., Montenegro.

The CircleAware project (2024–2027) is being implemented within the framework of the Interreg IPA Cross-border Cooperation Programme Croatia–Bosnia and Herzegovina–Montenegro, with the aim of accelerating the transition to a circular and resource-efficient economy. The project focuses on raising awareness, improving waste separation infrastructure, and educating both institutions and young people.

During the presentation, it was emphasized that the project includes numerous activities such as:

  • organizing workshops for institutions responsible for waste management,
  • introducing innovative educational programs in schools,
  • procuring equipment for selective waste collection,
  • testing digital solutions for waste tracking,
  • exchanging knowledge through partner institution visits.

CircleAware brings circular systems to the local level and fosters cooperation among the cities of Trilj (Croatia), Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina), and Kotor (Montenegro).

Conference participants expressed strong interest in the presented concept, particularly regarding the practical application of circular economy principles and the engagement of local communities.
