SEMINAR “ORRI PRINCIPLES AND THEIR APPLICATION IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT” HELD IN BANJA LUKA

A seminar titled “ORRI Principles and Their Application in Sustainable Development” was held at Pan-European University Apeiron in Banja Luka. The event brought together over 50 participants, including academic staff, researchers, students, and representatives of local institutions.

The seminar was organized in cooperation between the Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska (IPERS) and Union – Nikola Tesla University from Belgrade. This event is part of a broader project aimed at building capacity for the application of Open and Responsible Research and Innovation (ORRI), with a particular focus on environmental protection and sustainable development.

Objective and Content

The objective of the seminar was to educate researchers and academic staff on ORRI principles, with special emphasis on their application in addressing local environmental challenges and promoting sustainable development.

The program included:

  • Lectures by experts in ecology and sustainable development.
  • An interactive workshop dedicated to the practical application of ORRI principles.
  • Discussions on local environmental issues and possible solutions, encouraging the exchange of experiences and ideas among participants.

The seminar was led by Prof. Dr. Predrag Ilić, Director of the Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska, with the support of Institute team members. In addition to researchers from the Institute (Sonja Marković, MSc and Sanja Bajić, MSc), the interactive workshop was facilitated by Prof. Dr. Suzana Gotovac Atlagić, Associate Professor at the University of Banja Luka and Director of the Nanopoly Center, Banja Luka.

The Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska and Union – Nikola Tesla University continue their cooperation in promoting open and responsible research, with a special focus on environmental protection and community well-being.
