FOURTH WORKSHOP HELD WITHIN THE BRIDGEWAT PROJECT
On Tuesday, 19th August 2025, the Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska in Banja Luka hosted the fourth workshop within the framework of the BRIDGEWAT project (BRIDGing Communities for SustainablE WATers), implemented as part of the European iMERMAID initiative.

This workshop was focused on enhancing knowledge and exchanging experiences with representatives of local institutions, as well as other interested stakeholders from the Republic of Srpska.
Through a series of thematic presentations, participants had the opportunity to become more familiar with iMERMAID technologies and communication tools designed for monitoring and preventing chemical water pollution. Special attention was given to the use of sensors for heavy metals and organic compounds, along with practical examples of their application in both industrial and urban contexts.
The workshop also provided a platform for discussion on key challenges and priorities in water quality management in the Republic of Srpska, and the potential for collaboration between institutions, the academic community, and the civil sector in this important field.
The Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska continues to implement workshops and other activities within the BRIDGEWAT project, with the aim of raising public awareness, strengthening stakeholder capacities, and promoting effective, science-based solutions in the field of water protection.
