STRENGTHENING CAPACITIES WITHIN THE ALLERSHIELD PROJECT: POLLEN LABORATORY EQUIPMENT DELIVERED TO THE INSTITUTE

As part of the AllerShield – Strengthening Crossborder Solutions for Managing Allergenic Plants and Enhancing Climate Resilience project, implemented under the Interreg VI-A IPA Croatia–Bosnia and Herzegovina–Montenegro programme, supporting equipment for the pollen laboratory has been delivered to the Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska.

The delivery includes specialized laboratory instruments and devices that will significantly enhance the Institute’s capacity for monitoring and analysing airborne allergens, including tracking pollen concentrations originating from invasive plant species. The new equipment will enable more efficient and reliable implementation of field and laboratory activities, in line with the project’s goals focused on improving air quality and public health.

This step represents part of the Institute’s activities within the work package dedicated to developing joint solutions for air monitoring and strengthening capacities for a more resilient cross-border area, enabling a better understanding of the impacts of climate change and air pollution on the spread of allergenic species.

The AllerShield project is jointly implemented by the Institute of Public Health Zadar (Lead Partner), the Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska, and the Environmental Protection Agency of Montenegro, with the goal of strengthening regional cooperation in pollen monitoring and enhancing resilience to climate change.
