SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED SECOND WORKSHOP WITHIN THE WATER-GUIDE PROJECT
Within the WATER-GUIDE – Water Assessment for Transformation and Ecological Revitalisation: Guidelines for Unified Integrated Design and Ecological Recovery project, the second workshop dedicated to the development of guidelines for the revitalisation of water bodies, with a special focus on the Sava River Basin, has been successfully completed.

The workshop was organized as part of project activities aimed at engaging relevant stakeholders, exchanging knowledge, and collecting feedback on the draft revitalisation guidelines. According to the project plan, the second workshop plays an important role in the process of reviewing and improving the draft guidelines, so that they reflect local and regional needs, challenges, and opportunities as effectively as possible.
During the workshop, the key elements of the WATER-GUIDE project approach were presented, including the application of good practices from the Szigetköz region in Hungary, the importance of nature-based solutions, habitat restoration, improvement of water quality, and strengthening cooperation among institutions, the professional community, and local communities.
Special emphasis was placed on the importance of a participatory approach, as successful revitalisation of water bodies requires the active involvement of various stakeholders — representatives of institutions, experts, civil society organizations, local communities, and other actors who can contribute to sustainable water resource management.
Workshop participants had the opportunity to review the proposed guidelines, provide comments and recommendations, and point out specific needs and priorities in the context of the protection and revitalisation of water ecosystems in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The collected proposals will be used to further improve the document and prepare a revised version of the guidelines.
The WATER-GUIDE project is implemented by the Public Scientific Research Institution “Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska”, within the DALIA Open Call Rivers Revived, with the aim of strengthening knowledge, raising awareness, and developing practical guidelines for the long-term revitalisation of water bodies.
The successful implementation of the second workshop represents an important step towards the development of high-quality, applicable guidelines adapted to the local context, which will contribute to biodiversity conservation, improved water quality, and sustainable water resource management in the region.
