ANNOUNCEMENT OF THE THIRD WORKSHOP WITHIN THE WATER-GUIDE PROJECT

The Public Scientific Research Institution Institute for Protection and Ecology of Republika Srpska is organising the third stakeholder workshop within the WATER-GUIDE project – Water Assessment for Transformation and Ecological Revitalisation: Guidelines for Unified Integrated Design and Ecological Recovery.
The workshop will take place on 12 June 2026, from 9:30 to 15:30 CET, at the Pan-European University Apeiron, Vojvode Pere Krece 13, Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The third workshop represents the final stage of stakeholder consultation and non-physical pilot testing of the guidelines for the revitalisation of the riverbank corridor and transitional zone along the Sava River embankment in Gradiška. Participants will be presented with the proposed nature-based measures and invited to assess their practical relevance, feasibility and suitability for local environmental and institutional conditions.
Particular attention will be given to the restoration of riparian vegetation, improvement of ecological connectivity, nutrient retention, riverbank stabilisation and habitat enhancement, while maintaining embankment safety, inspection access and regular maintenance requirements.
Through discussion and structured feedback, representatives of public institutions, the scientific and professional community, non-governmental organisations, businesses and other relevant stakeholders will have an opportunity to contribute to the final refinement of the guidelines.
The WATER-GUIDE project is implemented within the European DALIA – Danube Region Water Lighthouse Action initiative and aims to develop locally adapted and scientifically supported approaches for the restoration and long-term protection of aquatic ecosystems.
