A NEW CHAPTER IN ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING: NOISE MEASUREMENT AS PART OF AIR MONITORING IN BANJA LUKA
The Institute for Protection and Ecology of the Republic of Srpska has launched a new phase within the air monitoring system in Banja Luka – continuous noise measurement at three locations as an additional indicator of pressure on the urban environment. This activity marks an important milestone in the project “Sustainable Development through Responsible Research: Strengthening ORRI in Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina” (SuDe2Re), which is implemented as part of the broader initiative “Responsible tEerritories and Institutions eNable and Foster Open Research and inClusive Innovation for traNsitions Governance” (REINFORCING), under the HORIZON-WIDERA-2022-ERA-01-40 program, with support from the European Union.
This initiative strengthens environmental monitoring capacities through the application of sustainable innovations and the principles of Open and Responsible Research and Innovation (ORRI). The data obtained from noise and air pollutant measurements support evidence-based, responsible decision-making in natural resource management, public health protection, and raising awareness of the importance of environmental protection.
